Update on Comicbooklover

What is happening in the world of Comicbooklover for OSX? It's been over 7 month now since the last update with no news whatsoever. The waiting for metadata is almost unbearable... any news at all?

Metadata is being incorporated, just taking a bit longer than expected.

So, it has now been over 8 months since you ( Simon ) have commented here about the progress of the update to CBL. Is there going to be one ... are you waiting for Snow Leopard .... or is CBL just going to fade away?

Cool! Can you say something about if metadata will work with both zip/cbz and rar/cbr files? It would be nice to know before I choose a format, and spend too much time with it, only to find out I should have picked the other one.

CBZ... I always advise people to use Zip/Cbz archives, as Zip is an open format. Rar is a proprietary format and has licensing issues.

Simon, does this mean that meta data will not work on cbr files? If so, can you just get away with changing the file extension to make them taggable?

There will be an option to convert comics to .cbz. Renaming won't work.

I cannot wait until an update is released for ComicBookLover, especially the ability to add metadata.

Simon, thanks for the tip on which format to use. I always wondered if one was "better" than the other.

Also, I found an easy way to change the file extensions of many files at once: http://junecloud.com/software/mac/change-extensions.html

An Automater action is installed in the contextual menu. All you have to do is select a bunch of files, right-click, and then choose the action. I used it to change a bunch of my files from .cbr to .cbz. It's really easy!

It's been a long time since Comicbooklover has been updated, like over a year know. I really love this app and think its the best comic reader out there.

Anyone have any news about the next update?

My theory is that Simon and the gang may be waiting for Snow Leopard .... perhaps the next update will take advantage of some of SL's tweaks. But some sort of word from BitCartel would be nice.

Don't want to over-promise and under-deliver! Sorry... also resources are tight, it's not like there are an army of coders, so things don't move as quick as one would like. Thanks for being patient.
