What is happening in the world of Comicbooklover for OSX? It's been over 7 month now since the last update with no news whatsoever. The waiting for metadata is almost unbearable... any news at all?

Thanks for the response Simon. I, for one, was just starting to get worried that BitCartel had decided to stop further development of the product. And the fact that you hadn't posted here for quite awhile furthered my paranoia. Glad to know it is still in the works.

Simon, does this mean some sort of update to CBL is coming? I hope so! I really love the application.

Sounds great, metadata is a surefire way to make CBL the top reader for Mac. It may even become a standard in the PC world if it gets done before anyone else.

Just to be clear... will this work on RAR versions? I understand you don't want people to use it because of licensing, but will it still work?

As for not being updated... I'd assume more along the lines of working on the iPhone app.. that's where the money is.

No, the metadata in the current design will only work with ZIP archives, e.g. CBZ. Converting an archive from RAR to ZIP is trivial though.

iPhone OS 3.0 was only recently released in June, so lots of new features in the OS to use. It was never really complete in 2.x.

With Snow Leopard arriving tomorrow, is ComicBookLover compatible? I have a large collection of digital comics in CBL and I would hate to encounter problems after I install Snow Leopard.

I don't see how or why Snow Leopard would make CBL not run. When the upgrade from Tiger to Leopard occurred there was nary a glitch and the switch from 10.5 to 10.6 is changing even less. I would only worry if 10.6 was changing the way it handles rar and zip archives ... but as far as I know it isn't. Regardless, I have already pre-ordered SL and will be receiving it next week sometime. I will post here with a report on how it runs if you can wait long enough for me to be you guinea pig.

And just to make you feel better, CBL is NOT listed by Apple as one of the few applications not compatible with SL. Seems the only apps that are being the ones that really dig into the system like Anti-Virus, Virtual Machines, etc. We should be fine.

Just finished installing Snow Leopard on my iMac. Comicbooklover works fine.

Sorry Guys ... I was wrong. At least for large collections ComicBookLover is broke under Snow Leopard See the new Discussion I am starting

I wouldn't say it's 100% compatible.

+ Seems to run faster. (Although it's still slow the first time you select a Smart List based on a tag.)
+ Updates covers in bottom pane quicker?
+ Doesn't get as confused about which cover goes with which book. (Happened quite frequently in Leo; the Cover displayed in the lower-left was always correct, but the bottom pane might be wrong.)

- When trying to update the Publish Date on a single comic, you need to manually change the month using up/down, save the change, then reopen before you can add the year.

- Hitting return on the Credits tab no longer hits OK. (Works on every other tab.)
