Doesn't look to me like this would be competition for CBL ... it seems to focus on a subscription service rather than organizing cbr or cbz files on ones HD.

Yeah, I think your right. From what I've been reading it will focus on subscription and allow non-subscription material (cbr/cbz) but with "limited" metadata organizing. But didn't Itunes kinda start out like that? In the beginning Itunes would only allow music from their store

Actually, iTunes pre-dates the iTunes Store. In fact, I the first iPods were released almost two years before the iTunes Music Store was started ( iPods released Oct 2001, iTunes Store started in 2003 and the first version of iTunes was Jan 2001 ). Prior to the iTunes Music Store you just ripped your tunes into iTunes from CD
